A British writer, who won a BAFTA in 1982 for his television work and was nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for co-writing the film Reds (1981) with its star, Warren Beatty. Trevor Griffiths began writing for the theatre, with many of his plays later translated to television, including Comedians (1979) and The Party (1988). Other notable screen work included Adam Smith (1972), Absolute Beginners (for Fall of Eagles, 1974), Through the Night (1975), Bill Brand (1976), Sons and Lovers (1981), The Last Place on Earth (1985), Fatherland (1986) and Food for Ravens (1997).
